All analyses in JASP are conducted using R, a programming language widely used for statistical computing, along with open-source R packages. For each analysis, a list of the relevant R packages is provided in the accompanying documentation. To ensure full reproducibility, we also record the specific version of each package, allowing analyses to be rebuilt with exactly the same environment.
In addition, all analyses are executed within a secure, sandboxed environment (from JASP 0.95.0 onward). This containment ensures that the R packages cannot affect or harm your system in any way.
JASP is a graphical user interface on top of these analyses, but it gives users access to the underlying R function calls used to generate the results. For each analysis, an “R” button is available, which reveals the corresponding R function call along with all its parameters — as can be seen in the top-left box of the JASP screenshot below:

Users can copy this R script and use it to rerun the analysis —either within the same JASP session or in a new one with different data— by pasting the script into a new analysis.
In the near future, it will also be possible to run these scripts directly in an R-based environment (such as RStudio). This will allow users to further customize the results (e.g., tables and plots) and streamline their workflow through automation.
