We were shocked and deeply saddened to learn that René Klerx passed away on December 30th, 2025. In 2020, as a Master Black Belt working for one of the largest manufacturers of bearings, seals and lubrication systems, René had pioneered a collaboration with the JASP team. Because of René’s initiative, foresight, and expertise, JASP now features a first-rate quality control module that benefits companies all across the world. After his retirement, René kept being involved, providing useful advice and encouragement. René joined the JASP trainer network early on, and in October 2025 he provided a successful two-day workshop for a German company in micro drive technology. Up to the very end René contributed feature requests on our GitHub page. We felt we were only starting our journey together, but we suddenly find that we have to continue without him.

René Klerx was generous with his time, and our meetings were always constructive, informative, and enjoyable. Through his advice he helped shape JASP into what it is today, to the benefit of others. We will make sure his contribution is not forgotten. We wish his wife, children, and grandchildren much strength in coping with their loss.
