Trained by Air Academy Associates, Colorado Springs USA, he became the lead six sigma trainer for Perkin Elmer (now Revvity). Martin has trained over 1,200 Lean Six Sigma professionals and taught courses across the USA, Europe, and Asia.
LearnSixSigma.co.uk was founded by Martin in 2024, he has 25 years of experience practicing and teaching Lean Six Sigma all over the World.
He is a professional engineer with a background in product design on analytical instruments: infra-red spectrometers, infra-red microscopes and gas chromatography products. Prior to that he worked in design for the aerospace and the automotive industries. With a wide experience in both production environments and in business process and back-office systems he has led many Lean and Six Sigma Projects delivering worldwide business improvements.
Training
LearnSixSigma.co.uk provides a full range of training from Yellow Belt, Green Belt, and Black Belt and can support you through to your practitioner certification. We also provide tailored classes to suit your industry to develop basic analytical skills to an expert level.
Our training philosophy supports maximum participation and involvement. With small classes, never more than twelve, we seek to make the learning experience highly practical and interactive. If you’re not questioning and challenging, then testing and sharing your knowledge you’re not really learning.
How JASP is Used in our Training
We use JASP for all of our training presentations and classwork. It is the only stats package featured in our training. We ask students to install JASP prior to the class and its availability through the Microsoft App Store usually makes that a reliable and secure process. Most candidates have work laptops with security restrictions on loading software so the verification and authenticity provided is valuable.
JASP features throughout our training. It is used at a simple data visualisation level in our free Yellow Belt course using JASP screenshots. The course is available both on our website and through Udemy. There are a number of optional assignments in the Yellow Belt self-paced video course which ask students to install JSAP and either upload their own .csv data or use data provided in the coursework. The Yellow belt course has a wide take up worldwide.
JASP is used extensively throughout our online, instructor led Green Belt and Black Belt training courses both for presentation material and for demonstrations of analysis. Being instructor led with small class sizes it is common to ask individual students to lead an example analysis to the class to increase their involvement and participation. All students are expected to have JASP installed and to learn to use many of its features.
The main features of JASP used at a Green Belt level are: sample stats, histograms, box plots, raincloud plots, time series plots, scatter plots and simple t-tests and binomial tests.
At a Black Belt level we include more of the same and add: confidence intervals, non-normal distributions, process capability, Cp, Cpk, DPU, DPMO, Correlation, Pearsons Coef. R, R2 , and an introduction to Measurement Systems Analysis (MSA) and Design of Experiments (DOE).
In the Black Belt Expert level aimed at advanced manufacturing we develop MSA with practical examples of measurement studies and analysis using JASP. We also develop practical examples of DOE using a Statapult and create screening models in JASP using a Placket & Burman and Taguchi model. We develop that further to a practical example of a full factorial model in JASP for predictive models for the mean response and the std dev of response.
